• Seam Finding System (SF/D)
  • Aluminium Welding Seam Tracking (TX/S)

Part variation, fit-up issues, and thermal distortion can be detrimental to the success of any automated welding process.

Our laser vision sensing systems can either find features prior to the weld start in a seam finding mode, or alternatively, detect what is changing ahead of the arc using real time seam tracking. In both cases changes to the wire location and welding parameters can be made to optimize the welding process.

SEAM FINDING

Seam Finding, sometimes called Joint Finding, is the process of locating the seam using one or more searches to ensure the weld bead is precisely deposited in the joint by shifting the robot or machine program path prior to welding. See the diagram on the ROBO-FIND page for a complete explanation. ROBO-FIND is SERVO-ROBOT's laser seam finding system for welding robots, and includes either a point or line laser camera, depending on the project requirements.

SEAM TRACKING

Seam Tracking, also known as Joint Tracking, involves real-time tracking just ahead of where the weld is being deposited. This allows for not only robot or machine trajectory shifts, but also adaptive control such as adjustments to voltage, wire feed, or travel speed to change weld bead formation. SERVO-ROBOT provides ROBO-TRAC systems for Robotic Arc and Laser Welding applications and AUTO-TRAC systems for special welding machines and other fixed automation processes.
